Peel Police - Chief Mike Metcalf Orders Internal Investigation Peel – In September, 2009, Peel Regional Police Officers arrested and charged two males with several drug-related offences in relation to a quantity of cocaine. On September 27, 2011, Justice Baltman delivered a ruling that brought into question evidence given during the preliminary hearing byfive members of our Service. Upon learning of Justice Baltman’s comments, Chief Mike Metcalf immediately ordered an internal investigation by theProfessional Standards Bureau. On Thursday, February 9, 2012, one of the accused pleaded guilty to Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, at which time the publication ban was lifted. Chief Metcalf states; “The men and women of Peel Regional Police are committed to providing professional and ethical service to citizens. The officers involved in this matter remain on active duty pending the completion of the internal investigation. A preliminary hearing of the matter was held before the Honourable Justice J. Baltman of the Superior Court of Justice in Brampton.
