National Post - Oct. 7, 2009 - By Kenyon WallaceTV host sings praises of Canada's 'oldest mayor' as 'fabulous woman' She might be facing a judicial inquiry into alleged conflict of interest, but yesterday Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, pictured, was in the spotlight for an entirely different reason.
In New York City for a conference, she made a brief appearance on Live With Regis and Kelly, where she was introduced by Mr. Philbin as the "oldest mayor in Canada," and a "fabulous woman.
"Ms. McCallion, 88, joked and sang with the two hosts, Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, and received loud applause when she told the audience she has been Mayor of Mississauga -- "the town adjacent to Toronto," Mr. Philbin said-- for 31 years.
On Saturday, Mr. Philbin was performing at Casino Rama and recognized Ms. McCallion in the audience.
They sang a duet of You Made Me Love You, which they briefly reprised for yesterday's TV appearance.
Mr. Philbin knew Ms. McCallion from his performance at a party last year.
